By Aaron Humes: Commissioner of Police Chester Williams has indicated that so far, nothing more than “certain irregularities” within the office of the Commander of Operations Strike Team has been found which led to its former leader, Assistant Commissioner Marco Vidal, being suspended at the order of the Security Services Commission last year.
The suspension came after four police officers who worked closely with him were arrested and charged for facilitating the drug plane landing on November 4, 2021, in Bladen Village, Toledo District.
Now, says the Commissioner, ACP Vidal must answer a show-cause letter from the CEO in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kevin Arthurs, in order for a decision to be made on the case, while the matters against the junior officers continue. “In respect to the junior officers, those matters are before the tribunal as well as the courts and in respect to the senior officer, Mister Vidal, we have submitted everything to the CEO who then takes charge in ensuring that the show cause letter is sent to Mister Vidal and he has time to reply to the show cause letter and based on the reply to the show cause letter then it is determined whether or not the matter goes before the Service Commission or it ends there,” said the Commissioner.
