By Aaron Humes: Belize has exported $3.9 million more in goods, with $20 million worth of exports in January 2022 compared to $16.2 million in January 2021.
Increases were noted in sugar ($2.5 million), animal feed exports ($1.7 million), with smaller increases for bananas and crude petroleum.
Narrow decreases were observed for citrus products ($0.7 million) and marine products ($0.3 million) with fewer exports of orange concentrate, whole lobsters and lobster meat. Belize made much of its partners in Central America (up $2.2 million) and the United Kingdom (up $1.5 million) but less of the European Union (down $0.2 million).
Meanwhile, Belize’s total imports for the month of January 2022 were valued at $190.5 million. This was a significant increase of 44.5 percent or $58.7 million compared to the $131.9 million imported in January 2021.
