By Aaron Humes: According to Channel 7 News, Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres will not be able to make his historic trip to Belize on Thursday for the CARICOM-SICA summit on Ambergris Caye.
As of this afternoon, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Dr. Carla Barnett indicated that all systems were go for his arrival, but late reports suggest the escalating and evolving war in Ukraine and demands that have therefore been placed on his office will keep him away.
It is not known if he will instead address the session virtually.
Dr. Barnett did confirm that the other special guest, President of Argentina Alberto Fernandez, will be addressing the session virtually.
