GOB sneaks in another unannounced price hike on gas; Regular up by 56 cents – now $12.84

By Aaron Humes: Consumers of regular gasoline received a nasty shock at the pumps this morning.

Overnight, regular gas went up by 56 cents and now sells for $12.84 in Belize City (slightly higher in the districts).

And like the increase in diesel and kerosene prices in February, this one was not announced at all beforehand – a worrying sign.

All three major fuel commodities have seen at least one increase since January and are approaching historic highs in prices.

As for any relief, Prime Minister John Briceno remains wary of losing much-needed revenue from fuel but has promised to find some means of easing the pain at the pumps.
