By Ruben Morales Iglesias: The Mayors’ Association, in collaboration with the Belmopan City Council, is hosting the first-ever She4She Champions World Summit, said Belmopan Mayor Sheran Palacio.
“Belize City will become a place of global attraction as delegates from across the world converge for the first-ever She4She Champions World Summit scheduled for March 4-6, 2022, at the Best Western Hotel,” said Belmopan Mayor Sheran Palacio on social media.
The Summit should feature prominent women leaders and invited guests, including Dr. Jewel Howard-Taylor, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia; Ambassador Victoria Sulimani, Sierra Leone’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; Rosanna Briceno, Belize’s Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children; Dr. Toyin Harris, founder of Majestic Daughters; and Nicole Jackson, Mayor of Rice, Texas.
“The event was borne out of Mayor Palacio’s personal desire to bring together women and girls from across the globe to commemorate International Women’s Month, and dialogue on issues pertaining to women and girls’ empowerment, gender equality, female leadership, economic empowerment, political participation, science, and technology,” said the post.
Mayor Palacio said the Summit “will provide the blueprint for future discourse on a plethora of issues relative to women empowerment, leadership, and governance”.
The event is to be held under the theme: “Towards Inclusive Governance in Public and Political Affairs”.
According to Mayor Palacio, the Summit’s “powerful speeches and anecdotes” are expected “to inspire women on their collective abilities to lead”.
