Verdes lead FFB Top League alone after four games

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Verdes are sole leaders for the first time in the FFB Top League 2021-2022 Closing Championship.

The Green Machine sport 12 points to Altitude’s and San Pedro Pirates’ nine.

Garden City moved up to four, Wagiya stayed at one, and Caesar Ridge still struggling don’t have a point as yet after four weekends of action.

Verdes managed to shake off Altitude after three matches with a little help from the San Pedro Pirates that beat the southern club 1-0. Then, this past weekend, the Green Machine took matters into their own hands, or should it be feet, and beat the Pirates 1-0, getting rid of them.

The question is, for how long? It could very well be short-lived as this coming weekend Verdes meet their toughest competition when they face Altitude at the FFB Stadium in Belmopan on Sunday afternoon.

Last championship, Verdes had an easier time establishing their lead. While they are still a strong and formidable squad, their competitors, particularly Altitude and the San Pedro Pirates, have spruced up their sides to the point that they are giving the Cayo-side a good run for their money. This makes for a great competition.

So, be on the lookout for some stellar performances. Surely, Verdes hosting Altitude should be a game you won’t want to miss.
