By BBN Staff: A Belize City man pleaded the mercy of the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week, to keep him from jail after he was found with a stolen window.
Eighteen-year-old Ezekiel Elijah Barrow appeared unrepresented in court on Tuesday, answering to a single charge of handling stolen goods, to which he pleaded guilty.
In imposing a fine of $300 plus $5.00 cost of court instead of a custodial sentence, the Magistrate took into consideration the fact that Barrow was young, remorseful, and that he had no previous conviction for a similar offense.
The complainant reported to police that on Sunday, February 27, she got a call from one of her neighbors that a window valued at $300, which was under her veranda, was missing. She reported the matter to the police.
Barrow was later found in possession of the window and was arrested and charged.
