By BBN Staff: A Belize City man charged with obtaining property by deception has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison for failing to show up for his scheduled court dates.
Twenty-two-year-old Taydron Castillo appeared before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson, today and could not provide a valid reason why he failed to show up to court since he was arraigned back in July of 2020.
Castillo’s court records show that he has four other matters before the courts. Three of these matters are for obtaining property by deception, and he was already out on bail for these charges.
Castillo initially told the court that he had, in fact, met his court dates, but the records proved that he did not. He then told the court that he was sick, but could not provide any medical proof of any ailment to keep him from coming to court.
His bail on all outstanding matters was then revoked and he was remanded to prison until the court trial. The date for the trial has been set for the month of June.
