By BBN Staff: Today, former Prime Minister of Belize, Rt. Hon. Dean O. Barrow is celebrating his 71st birthday.
Barrow, Belize’s only three-term Prime Minister, began his legal career at the law firm of his uncle Dean Lindo in 1973 and became Lindo’s law partner in 1977.
He began his political career in 1983 as a candidate in the Belize City Municipal Elections and won. In 1984 he ran for the United Democratic Party in the Collet Division, but after redistricting ended up running in Queen Square and also won. He would maintain that seat until his departure from electoral politics in 2020.
He became Party Leader of the UDP in 1998 and Prime Minister in 2008 also holding that office until his retirement in 2020.
