By BBN Staff: A Belize City man faced two fines in court this week after he attacked the man that runs errands for him and destroyed some of the run man’s items.

Kendon Lennon appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to answer to one count of common assault upon 54-year-old, Julian Wallace Castillo, and one count of damage to property for destroying a $6.00 cup and a pair of $20.00 slippers belonging to Castillo.

Lennon pleaded guilty immediately to the charge and pleaded with the court to show leniency as he had lost his job due to the pandemic.

He was fined $700.00 plus $5.00 cost of court fine for the common assault charge which he must pay by June 6, 2022, or spend 4 months in jail for default. He was also fined $500.00 plus $5.00 cost of court for the damage to property charge and has until June 13, 2022, to pay or he will spend 3 months in jail for defaulting. He is also to repay Castillo the sum of $26.00 for the damaged items, which makes for a total fine of $1,236.00.

Castillo told police that he runs errands for Lennon, and on the day in question, he had just returned from an errand when Lennon punched him in the face and attempted to harm him further. Castillo said he ran away from Lennon, who could not catch up with him so he turned his rage and damaged his property. No reason was given for the unprovoked attack.
