Son convicted of assault for chopping his 62 year old father

By BBN Staff: Today, a man remorsefully admitted in court to taking a machete and chopping his 62-year-old father.

Donald Guevara, 30, appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, where he was read a single charge of aggravated assault.

Guevara wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the charge. He woefully told the magistrate that he had been drinking and does not remember what he had done, but that he was sorry.

Instead of giving Guevara prison time, the Magistrate imposed a fine of $800 plus $5.00 cost of court which he has to pay by May 31, 2022, or he will spend three months in jail.
