Cayo District adds majority of new COVID-19 cases

By Aaron Humes: Of 34 total cases reported today, 11 were in the Cayo District.

Six of these were concentrated in the Greater Belmopan area (Belmopan – four; Maya Mopan – one and Salvapan – one), with two new cases in Benque Viejo and one each in San Ignacio Town, Calla Creek and Esperanza.

Just five new cases were reported across the entire Belize District – two in Belize City; two in Ladyville and one in Hattieville, while none were reported in San Pedro Town.

Both the northern and southern districts combined each reported nine new cases. There were four new cases in Orange Walk Town, two in Corozal Town, and one each in San Estevan, Orange Walk and Cristo Rey and Louisville in Corozal.

Down south, new cases were reported in Dangriga, Hopkins, Independence and Sarawee, Stann Creek District; and the Toledo villages of Crique Jute, Indian Creek, Midway, San Miguel and San Pedro Columbia.
