By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Football Federation of Belize issued a statement condemning the acts of violence that occurred at Saturday’s football match between Queretaro and Atlas.
“The FFB is deeply concerned about the incident which claimed the lives of many innocent people. President Sergio Chuc on behalf of FFB has also reached out to President Yon de Luisa to send condolences and prayers for all those affected during this tragic incident. In his message, he reiterated Belize’s position in standing in solidarity with the Mexican Football Federation in condemning all acts of violence both on and off the field,” the FFB said.
The federation went on to say that it joins those praying for the executives, officials, all football stakeholders, and especially the grieving families, following the tragic incident, stressing that football should be a game of love peace and unity.
“Football has been the sport to stop wars and bring unity and as such, it should never be the root of violence or mourning. Join us in sending love and prayers for all those suffering because of this tragic incident,” the FFB added.
