Accused killer of suspected burglar charged with manslaughter

By Aaron Humes: Police have confirmed that Guatemalan farmer Manuel Bo, accused of hacking to death Jeremiah Ack, alias “Rabbit”, who stood accused of breaking into his home, has been charged with manslaughter.

Police said today that “… when police visited that scene where he (Bo) showed them the lifeless body of Jeremiah Ack, a thirty-seven-year-old Belizean unemployed of Santa Rosa Village. He reported to police that while he was doing his own investigation into the burglary at his house, he approached Ack where an argument ensued between both men and he caused the injuries to Mr. Ack. He has since been charged for manslaughter. We are certain that the consultation occurred between the investigators and the DPP’s office, so that’s the directive to charge for manslaughter instead of murder.”

Asked what evidence Bo had implicating Ack, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood, Communications Director, B.P.D. stated, “Well, he was informed… the deceased’s nickname was Rabbit, and according to him, somebody told him that Rabbit was the person that broke into his home. But I am certain that it had to be that investigators found out that either one: he didn’t pull the weapon that may have caused the fatal injury to Rabbit or else he would have been charged for murder, as opposed to manslaughter.”
