By Benjamin Flowers: Just under a month since the last price hike, the Government of Belize has announced that the cost of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) [butane] is seeing another price increase.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise said that prices in urban and rural areas will see an increase both by the pound and by the gallon.
The price per pound in urban areas has gone up from $1.36 to $1.57, while the price per gallon has gone from $6.43 per gallon to $6.85. Meanwhile, in rural areas, the price per pound went from $1.38 to $1.59, and the price per gallon went from $6.53 to $6.95.
“These prices reflect an increase of BZ$0.42 per gallon for the current shipment resulting primarily from an increase in the acquisition price of propane,” GOB said.
The last increase in the price of butane was on February 16.
