By BBN Staff: Police have made an arrest in the murder case of Leslie Gillett, who was shot dead at his business in Burrell Boom Village, Belize District, earlier this year.
Today, officers announced that they have formally arrested and charged Belize City resident 20-year-old Earl Dean Baptist for the crime of murder.
Leslie Gillett, 37, also known as “Dimes,” was at Matilda’s Mini Mart in Burrell Boom, around 5:25 pm on Friday, January 21, when a group of men came into the store to make a purchase.
Gillett reportedly turned his back to make his way to the counter when one of the would-be patrons pulled out a gun and shot him several times to the back. The group then escaped in a blue vehicle.
The shop was also the site of a double murder back in November 2021, where cashier Kendra Miguel and store worker Dennis Brown were also shot dead.
