Prime Minister John Briceño received an honorary doctorate from Kun Shan University on Friday.
“Such an honor!” said the Prime Minister who was accompanied to Kun Shan University in Tainan by Vice President Lai Ching-te.
Prime Minister Briceño said he was very grateful to Kun Shan University for the honorary doctorate degree.
Prior to receiving the honorary doctorate, Prime Minister Briceño was conferred the Order of Propitious Clouds with Special Grand Cordon by Taiwan President Tsai Ing-Wen.
“Not often does a world leader receive so many distinctions in one official visit, and so we are extremely proud of Prime Minister John Antonio Briceño,” said the Belize Embassy.
“Tainan is a city with the longest history and earliest cultural roots in Taiwan, boasting a stunning natural landscape and well-known agricultural and fishery products and cuisine. Tainan is also famous for its sugar industry, with similarity to “Orange walk” – “Sugar City” of Belize and my hometown,” the Prime Minister noted.
Briceño is in Taiwan heading an eight-member delegation which includes his wife, the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children Rossana Briceño; Eamon Courtenay, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Francis Fonseca, Minister of Education, Culture, Science & Technology; Jose Abelardo Mai, Minister of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, Ambassador Jaime Briceno, and Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Stuart Leslie.
