Two men and a woman remanded to prison for robbing and stabbing 55-year-old Jamaican national

By BBN Staff: Two men and a woman from Ladyville are in jail tonight after robbing and stabbing 55-year-old Jamaican national Denham Roy Sr.

This afternoon 20-year-old, James Bainton, 23-year-old, Jeremiah Bainton, and 22-year-old Tanisha Bainton, were arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s court, charged with robbery and wounding.

Allegations are that on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, whilst armed with a knife they forcefully stole from Denham Roy, Sr., the sum of $4,750.00 in cash, and a $200 cell phone, all to a total of $4,950.00.

In court, Prosecutor Cpl. Edgar Poot objected to bail being offered to the men, under Section 16-1 of the Crime Control Justice Act.

After considering the objection, the Magistrate determined that they should all be remanded to prison, and told them they are free to apply for bail at the Supreme Court.

The trio is due back in court on May 10.
