Belize Women’s National Team (BWNT) striker Kaite Jones is headed to the United States where she will play for the Northern Oklahoma College Mavericks.
Jones, who is one of Belize’s best players, will surely benefit from this exposure both as a student and an athlete. Apart from the BWNT, Jones, who hails from the Orange Walk District, has played for National subchampions Rumberas and for the Orange Walk Gladiators.
“The Football Federation of Belize has received a Letter of Intent from the National Junior College Athletic Association for National Team Striker Katie Jones to play with Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa!” said the Football Federation of Belize (FFB) in a social media post on Friday.
“Belize national team center forward Kaite Jones has signed with the Mavericks!” tweeted the Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa Soccer Department.
Rumberas said they are celebrating because one of their own is moving on up.
“We know the potential you have and today we celebrate this triumph with you,” said Rumberas FC in a social media post.
The FFB said it continues finding opportunities for Belize’s football athletes and continues promoting the development of Belize’s athletes both on and off the field.
