Another reported increase nudges gas prices closer to $15 a gallon

By Aaron Humes: According to Channel 7 News, as of midnight prices for diesel and kerosene have risen by 84 cents in urban areas and 85 cents in rural areas.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) checked with a gas station in Belize City and the price of diesel was $13.41 and for kerosene it was $9.05 (the last reported increase for the latter was in January).

The increase comes on top of two previous increases at the end of February and just last week Saturday, part of which was absorbed by the Government.

But with the Government’s reluctance to give up guaranteed revenue from gas taxes and the uncertain situation revolving around oil due to the Russia-Ukraine war, prices can be expected to continue to rise for all petroleum products, including regular and premium gasoline by next week, and LPG as seen earlier this week.
