Seine Bight is a coastal Garifuna village on the Placencia Peninsula. Its inhabitants have traditionally depended on fishing, but tourism has become the fastest income generator on the peninsula and Seine Bight cannot be left behind in developing its tourism potential.

Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Anthony Mahler, sees that potential and has embarked on a plan to develop Seine Bight. The plan would include “the creation of a cultural center and museum, the construction of a pier, and the upgrading of the Seine Bight Police Station,” said the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) on social media.

With the objective of making those developments, Minister Mahler, along with Rodwell Ferguson Sr., Minister of Youth, Sports and Transport and Area Representative for Stann Creek West, met with the Seine Bight Village Council.

According to the BTB, the Ministers and the Seine Bight Village Council discussed plans for improving the infrastructure and developing the tourism potential of the village.
