Veteran reporter and photographer seeks assistance to fight glaucoma

Posted: Saturday, March 12, 2022. 9:11 am CST.

By Aaron Humes: A beloved colleague and friend to all members of the press, including this reporter, is seeking assistance to pursue a treatment to restore his eyesight.

Rowland A. Parks, of Ladyville, worked at one time for both leading newspapers of Belize, Amandala, and The Reporter, until 2020 when he was forced off work after being diagnosed with glaucoma.

According to his friend Jacqueline Meighan, he is seeking US$10,000 to be treated using stem cell therapy to reverse glaucoma, such treatment being available in Mexico.

Parks (who generally is known by his last name among the press) is a distinguished photographer and writer, having authored the book Poems of Passion, Patriotism & Protest with future boss and Amandala publisher Evan X Hyde and attorney Richard “Dickie” Bradley in 1981.

Those wishing to make donations can deposit to his Atlantic Bank account 211-966-522, or call 622-0080 (no texts as he cannot see them).

We wish Parks all success in this continuing battle.
