Man caught stealing car battery remanded to prison

By BBN Staff: A man caught in the act of stealing a car battery was remanded to the Belize Central Prison on Friday.

Belize City resident Roney Pott was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday, charged with attempted theft. He pleaded not guilty to the offense and since there was no objection to bail, he was granted bail in the sum of $800 plus one surety of the same.

However, he was unable to meet his bail and was remanded to prison until May 9.

The allegation against him is that on Thursday, March 10, he was stealing the battery out of a woman’s vehicle when she came and found him in the act. She promptly reported the matter to the police.
