Man charged with attempted murder pleads guilty to lesser charge; victim says he does not want the accused to go to jail

By BBN Staff: A man charged with attempted murder received mercy from the court and from his victim during his appearance in the Supreme Court today.

Marlon Casey appeared with his lawyer Oscar Selgado where he pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of dangerous harm.

The victim, 33-year-old Abraham Leslie, reportedly told the court that he does not want Casey to go to jail, but acknowledges that the decision remains in the hands of the Supreme Court Justice.

Justice Ricardo O’Neal Sandcroft accepted the guilty plea and reinstated bail for Casey, which was previously revoked. Casey’s bail was set at $5,000 plus one surety of the same which he was able to meet.

Meanwhile, Justice Sandcroft deferred Casey’s sentencing hearing until April 13.

Sources say that Casey could possibly look at a non-custodial sentence.

The incident occurred in June 2019, when Leslie and Casey reportedly had an altercation. During that altercation, Casey pulled a knife and stabbed him once to the neck and once to the upper back.
