Fishers busted with over 900 undersized conch in December 2021 finally arraigned

By BBN Staff: A group of fishermen from northern Belize who were caught back in December 2021 with over 900 undersized conchs was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today.

Victor Elvio Patt, 33; Elton Johan Patt, 34; Sanny Santiago Patt, 27; and Bryan Manuel Yacab, 19; all fishermen of Chunox Village Corozal District, appeared unrepresented, charged jointly for having a total of 932 conchs that were below the legally required 3 ounces.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail in the sum of $2,000 each plus one surety of the same amount which they met.

They are scheduled to return to court on April 28.

The allegation against them is that they were found in the receiving area of Northern Fishermen Cooperative Ltd., #49 North Front Street, Belize City on December 4, 2021, with the undersized conchs.
