By Benjamin Flowers: The Belize Airport Authority (BAA) announced today that it installed new lights to increase visibility at four airstrips across the country.
The BAA said that it installed new visual aids at the Sir Barry Bowen Municipal Airport, John Grief II Airport, Caye Caulker Airport, and the Placencia Municipal Airport; in order to complement the runway lighting systems.
“The enhancement comes by the installation of Airport Rotating Beacons which meet the recommendations of the Federal Aviation Administration and the International Civil Aviation Organization. To that, the BAA follows the guidance of BCAR’S at their 14 aerodromes,” the BAA said.
The BAA added that it strategically placed the lights to ensure that they will not be shielded by other equipment.
