Police officers to get discounts on medication from Central Drug Store in new quaiity of life initiative

By Benjamin Flowers: Assistant Commissioner of Police Howell Gillett has signed an agreement with Central Drug Store to get discounts on medication for police officers.

Under the agreement, officers who show proof of their enlistment can receive up to a 10 percent discount on prescription and over-the-counter medications.

ACP Gillett, who assumed command of the entire Belize District (Eastern Division), signed the one-year agreement with Victor Usher from Central Drug Store, today, as a part of a greater initiative to improve efficiency in the department by taking better care of officers.

“You will see in the coming days and weeks ahead we will be supporting our officers in a number of ways to help them have better-living conditions,” Gillett told our newsroom.

“We are now in discussion with one fuel station to give some ease to our officers. We are also speaking with two bus companies to see how officers could get a reduction on bus fares when traveling to and from work,” he added.

Gillett stressed that officers who have their needs being met will be more motivated to do their jobs, which is why he is working with the private sector to find more ways to support them.
