By Benjamin Flowers: Yen & Brothers Enterprise Co. LTD., one of the largest seafood importers within the Republic of China (Taiwan) has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Northern Fishermen Cooperative to, among other things, purchase $4 million worth of seafood from Belize later this year.

The LOI, which was signed on March 10, will be used to promote mutual collaboration, experience exchange in the area of marketing, and information sharing regarding seafood, along with a commitment to purchase 10 containers of frozen cooked lobster from Belize, valued at approximately $4 million dollars this year.

“This is the first business LOI executed, following the signing of the mutually beneficial Economic Cooperation Agreement (ECA) between the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Government of Belize that took effect on January 15th, 2022,” the Taiwanese Embassy noted in a statement issued today.

The Embassy added that it will continue to work closely with the Government of Belize, as well as BELTRAIDE, to further expand trade between Taiwan and Belize, and look forward to seeing more Belizean products be provided to Taiwanese customers. Prime Minister John Briceno, during his recent visit to Taiwan also witnessed the signing.
