The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) Team got a come-from 4-3 win over the San Ignacio/Santa Elena (SISE) Town Council Team on Friday, March 18, at the opening of the futsal Falcon Field Synthetic Stadium in San Ignacio.

A children’s match preceded the opening of the futsal stadium which was financed by the FFB and the SISE Town Council. The FFB said it’s a project that started three years ago. The stadium would have been finished earlier had its construction not been stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The SISE Town Council team was ahead 3-1 but relinquished its lead over the last few minutes conceding the match to the FFB Team.

Mayor Earl Trapp, who has been pivotal in organizing five-a-side football competitions in San Ignacio-Santa Elena, scored the opening goal of the friendly match in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Falcon Field.

He along with FFB president Sergio Chuc started the game. Mayor Trapp played most of the match.

Cayo players and fans will enjoy the Falcon Field Synthetic Stadium right away as JDB Ltd, the San Ignacio/ Santa Elena Town Council, and the Twin Town Football Committee are organizing an amateur five-a-side football marathon which kicks off on Sunday, March 20, at 8:00 am.
