By Aaron Humes: This evening, fresh from the Philip Goldson International Airport, HRH The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge met Prime Minister John Briceno & his wife, Special Envoy Rossana Briceno at the Laing Building, Belize City headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On Friday, the P.M. noted on his official social media page, “In recognition of the Royal Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, our local producers are presenting representations of their ingenuity, craftsmanship and Belize’s proud development and heritage.”
He detailed receiving a special designer edition of the locally made Copalli Rum from business representative Wil Maheia, which is to be presented among the array of Belizean gifts.
The P.M. explained, “Copalli Rum is unique as its distillery in Southern Belize uses only organic sugar cane, red and purple varieties that they grow on their property, and they produce what is called an “agricole style” rum that is certified organic.”
The visit continues on Sunday in the South with stops in the Stann Creek and Toledo Districts. Breaking Belize News is on the ground and will have continued coverage on Sunday and Monday.
