Rt Hon Said Musa, “Lion of Fort George,” turns 78

By Aaron Humes: Former two-term Prime Minister and area representative for Fort George Said Musa is 78 today.

Apart from birthday wishes on Facebook, the elder statesman spent the day at a constituency expo in Belize City.

Musa took over leadership of the People’s United Party from Rt Hon George Cadle Price in 1996 and led it to a wide victory in the 1998 General Elections. He served two terms before the United Democratic Party regained power in 2008 and continued as area representative until forced to resign on the heels of a stroke just months before the 2020 General Election.

The constituency executive’s post mentioned its best wishes on behalf of son and successor Henry Charles Usher.
