Second weekend murder victim in Cayo is 43-year-old Henry Baptist; killed after attending brother’s wake

By BBN Staff: Following the murder of 29-year old Ramandeep Mangat on Friday night, the Cayo District, and more specifically the twin towns, recorded its second weekend murder of the weekend.

The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Henry Baptist who was murdered in the wee hours of Sunday morning after attending his brother’s wake in Cristo Rey Village, Cayo. His brother, Jesse Espat, who was found dead in Orange Walk last week, was to be buried on Sunday. The family hosted a wake for him in Cristo Rey Village and Baptist was in attendance.

According to Police, when they arrived on the scene, they observed a dark complexion man motionless on the ground, bleeding and with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.  He was later identified as Henry Baptist.

Baptist, who resided for most of his life in Santa Elena, was a known street figure and had been involved in a number of altercations between rival groups in the twin towns.
