Posted: Monday, March 21, 2022. 6:20 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Daniel Burke, a resident of the Port Loyola area of Belize City, today pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a knife against a woman on Saturday.

Burke appeared before Senior Magistrate Tricia Pitts-Anderson, accused of pulling a knife for no declared reason at a woman leaving a supermarket on East Collet Canal. The woman told police that while leaving Sam’s Store she felt something hit her on her left arm and turned to see Burke with the knife already drawn and pointed at her.

Burke admitted to his action and pleaded guilty.

The Senior Magistrate elected a non-custodial sentence, issuing a fine of one thousand dollars and cost of court to be paid by August 31, in default three months’ imprisonment.

It was noted that Burke has no prior offenses on his record before this incident.
