By Rubén Morales Iglesias: National Champions Jewel Fury were brought down to earth shockingly in the opener of the National Amateur Women’s League (NAWL) A Division on Saturday evening.

The Sagitun GIRLZ did what other teams have been unable to do as they took down the champs 2-1 at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium at Independence.

The Sagitun GIRLZ hit the ground running as Karisha Coe scored the first goal of the NAWL Championship in the second minute of action.

Then, Anna Ortega pumped in the second in the 38th minute before Jewel Fury got one back in the 59th through the efforts of Ada Cordova.

Great start for the Sagitun GIRLZ, but the worst for the defending Champs Jewel Fury, who now need to work on bouncing back.
