San Pedro Pirates draw 1-1 with Wagiya at San Pedro on Saturday night

San Pedro Pirates wasted an opportunity to close up on Verdes mustering only a 1-1 draw against visiting Wagiya from Dangriga on Saturday night at Ambergris Stadium in San Pedro.

Verdes for their part won 2-1 over Garden City, totaled 21 points from seven games, and are now one game shy of winning the FFB Top League Closing Championship. San Pedro with 14 points, unless Verdes lose their three remaining games, will now have to stave off Altitude (11 points) for second place when they meet on April 2 at Independence.

Warren Moss scored for Wagiya in the 15th minute before San Pedro’s Mario Chimal pulled off the draw.

Wagiya now have five points and are in fifth place in the FFB Top League. Their next opponents will be Garden City at the FFB Stadium on Sunday, April 3.
