Belize City man fined for crack possession

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man busted with crack cocaine received a fine instead of a prison sentence.

Fifty-year-old Solomon Smith, appeared in court last Friday where he was charged with being in possession of 0.15 grams of crack cocaine.

Smith wasted no time in pleading guilty, which the Magistrate took into consideration during sentencing.

Smith was fined $350 plus $5 cost of court, which he has to pay by May 20 or face three months in prison.

Police on mobile patrol on North Front Street had found the drugs on him during a stop and search on Thursday, March 17.
