Keon Dennison tried for murder of Rueben Perez

BBN Staff: This morning the trial of Keon Dennison for the November 2015 murder of Rueben Perez continues in the Supreme Court before Justice Ricardo O’Neal Sandcroft.

Dennison, represented by attorney Oscar Selgado, is co-accused with Tyrone Reid, who pleaded guilty and will be sentenced in April.

On Monday the court heard from Crown prosecutor Riis Cattouse, who began setting out the case against Dennison. The State alleges that Dennison and Reid met up at Reid’s house and there allegedly plotted to rob Perez Hardware Store on Vernon Street. Armed, they rode on bicycles to the site, questioned employees to find where Rueben Perez was, then stormed his office. Perez was fatally shot and Dennison is accused of taking his cell phone.

The Crown must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the men acted jointly and that Dennison knew and intended to kill Perez at the time of the robbery turned murder.

The trial continues.
