Belize City man charged for busting police constable’s head with a pint bottle

Posted: Wednesday, March 23, 2022. 3:10 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: A Belize City man appeared in court today, charged for hitting a police officer in the head with a pint bottle, which caused an open wound.

Twenty-one-year-old Edmund Perdomo, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, represented by attorney Ronell Gonzalez, to answer to a single charge of wounding.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and was granted bail in the sum of $1,000 plus one surety of the same, with no objections from the prosecution.

Perdomo is due back in court on April 4.

The allegation against him is that on January 1, he got into a fight at SeaShell Bar & Grill in Belize City. PC Phillip Garbut attempted to part the fight, and that’s when he alleges that Perdomo hit him in the head with the bottle.
