By BBN Staff: In January 2018, the brutalized and partially nude bodies of sisters 20-year-old Cresencia Oh and 18-year-old Josephine Oh were found on a road in San Antonio Village, Toledo District; this week some four years later, Wilmer Escobar has been convicted of thier double murder.
Escobar was found guilty yesterday in a trial without a jury before Justice Antionette Moore in the southern session of the Supreme Court. The trial began in November 2021, with closing arguments made in February this year.
At the judgment hearing attorney John Nembhard represented Escobar, in place of his former attorney, the late Herbert Panton who died earlier this month.
On January 21, 2018, the sisters were walking home from a church service, when Escobar attacked them with a machete. Reports also say that Escobar sexually assaulted the women as well.
Escobar now awaits a sentencing hearing to learn his punishment for the crimes. His hearing will take place later this year after the court receives a psychological report from the Belize Central Prison.
