Galen University celebrates Galen Eagle Day on Friday, April 1

Posted: Wednesday, March 23, 2022. 10:39 am CST.

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Galen University is celebrating Galen Eagle Day on Friday, April 1, at its Central Farm campus, at Mile 64 on the George Price Highway.

“It’s really an Expo and Fun Day,” said Deanna Peyrefitte, Director of Marketing and Admissions.

The Galen Eagle Day will start at 9:00 am and run until 2:00 pm.

“It’s a publicity for Galen to showcase what we do as a higher education institution, but it’s also for our current students who have not been on campus for two years to come back to campus to have some camaraderie and to celebrate the fact that we have kind of surfaced out of the pandemic and we have the opportunity to gather again.”

Peyrefitte said that since Galen can now go back to face-to-face education, they are inviting prospective students, the community, and Galen alumni “to come back to campus” for the Expo to see what Galen has to offer and to find out information about Galen University.

“The fun part is for our current students, alumni, or other visitors who want to engage in activities that are being organized by the Students Affairs Office to engage the students in a Welcome Back to Campus type of activities,” Peyrefitte explained.

The Galen Eagle Day will include fun and Student Wellness activities and will feature information booths from the Faculties of Education; Business and Entrepreneurship; and Arts, Science, and Technology.

The Eagle Day will also have student clubs and business support booths and should also feature the Eagle Entrepreneurs and the Eagle paddlers, who recently competed in the Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge.

“Our Finance Department will also be there because we do offer student loans at Galen as well. So, our visitors, our students, and our prospective students can also meet with our student finance officers to find out more about opportunities for scholarships, as well as for loan options and installment payments, the financial services we offer,” Peyrefitte said.

Additionally, she said that the National Bank and the Development Finance Corporation will have booths displaying their services for students.

“We’ll have some of our entrepreneurs selling their apparel, products, and services they offer. It’s both current students and graduates, our Soaring Eagles as we call them, who we’ve invited back,” said Peyrefitte.

Peyrefitte said the Galen Eagle Day will ensure visitors learn more about Galen but will also make sure they are entertained, so they have food trucks and music.

Galen intends to start face-to-face classes for the Summer Semester which starts in May.
