Ladyville farmer gets over three years in jail over unlicensed gun and ammunition

Posted: Wednesday, March 23, 2022. 8:41 am CST.

By BBN Staff: A Ladyville farmer, one of three people arrested and charged for an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, pleaded guilty to the charge to spare his co-accused and found himself at the beginning of a three and a half year prison sentence.

Paglo Recinos, Triston Crawford, and David Secondido, appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court yesterday with respect to a .22 caliber pistol and a magazine containing live .22 caliber rounds found on one of them during a search.

Recinos pleaded guilty to the charge and explained that the gun belonged to his boss who had left it behind when he headed for the US. Recinos further said that he took the firearm with him when he was leaving the house because he did not want to leave it home unattended.

The court accepted his guilty plea and sentenced him to concurrent sentences for both the gun and ammunition, meaning he only has to spend a total of three years and six months in jail.

Secondido and Crawford were set free.
