Meighan brothers charged with contempt of court and remanded to prison

By BBN Staff: Ellis and Tyrone Meighan were caught in Mexico over the weekend attempting to leave the country illegally into the US and are now in the Belize Central Prison for violating a court order.

The Meighan brothers had a pending case before the court, having been charged for gang affiliation.

They were attempting to abscond while out on bail when Mexican immigration personnel discovered them and deported them back to Belize.

The brothers appeared before Senior MagistrateTricia Pitts-Anderson, to find the prosecution attempting to have their bail revoked.

After considering the evidence being used by the prosecution, the Senior Magistrate determined that she could not trust the authenticity of the documents being used so she rejected them.

Magistrate Pitts-Anderson did not revoke their bail but rather remanded them to jail until April 5, when their matter would be heard.
