Police find woman’s body on Branch Mouth Road, San Ignacio Town

By BBN Staff: Police found the decomposing body of a woman yesterday at the Castillo Sandpit, located off the Branch Mouth Road, San Ignacio Town.

Officers responded to a call made around 9:00 a.m. and found the body of 45-year-old Bertulia Mateo Juarez, lying face up in the initial state of decomposition.

Police say Juarez was dressed in a red coca-cola T-shirt with a green and blue striped skirt and had a small black purse with a pair of green slippers. Upon further investigation, police found no apparent injuries on her body but did find three small empty bottles and one full bottle of gold Caribbean rum along with a black plastic bag containing small pouches of water.

Juarez was last seen alive on Saturday, March 19, by her daughter, who became concerned when her mother did not return home.

Police are investigating.
