By BBN Staff: A man from San Ignacio stands accused of assaulting his girlfriend, who is five months pregnant during a domestic dispute.

Alexis Romero appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was read a single charge of common assault.

The victim appeared in court today, preparing to drop the charges, but was unable to do so because she could not present any identification to the court.

Since the matter could not be struck out, it was adjourned until the victim can return with an ID.

In the interim, Romero was granted bail in the sum of $800 plus one surety of the same which he was able to meet.
