Belize Women’s National Football Team beat Quintana Roo Selection 3-2, play again Thursday night in Chetumal

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Women’s National Football Team (BWNT) defeated the Quintana Roo Selection 3-2 on Tuesday night (March 22) in Chetumal and play a second game today Thursday against the same team.

Sabrina Eiley, Alisha Terry, and Ofelia Casimiro scored for the BWNT while Alexa Cabrera, Adriana Loeza responded for the Quintana Roo Selection.

The Belize team led 3-1 at one point but conceded a long-range free-kick goal to Loeza for the final 3-2.

The BWNT’s games against the Chetumal Selection at the Estadio 10 de Abril in Chetumal are friendlies in preparation for the Women’s World Cup Qualifiers against Aruba and Barbados.

Today’s game kicks off at 5:00 pm (4:00 pm Belize).

Last week, the BWNT played two games in Izabal, Guatemala, winning 3-2 on Tuesday, March 15, over Moralense in Morales. Alisha Terry scored both of Belize’s goals.

On Thursday, March 17, the BWNT blanked FCF El Estor 3-0 in Buenos Aires, Izabal, on two goals by Jada Brown and one by Sabrina Eiley.

The BWNT will host Aruba on Wednesday, April 6, in Belmopan, and will then fly to the Dominican Republic to take on Barbados on Tuesday, April 12.

Though the BWNT can’t qualify to the next round of the World Cup Qualifiers as they lost the first two qualifying games, they are firm in their hopes of closing the World Cup qualifiers with better performances than the first two games.
