By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Central Health Region (CHR) is giving tuberculosis testing appointments on Thursday at Battlefield Park in Belize City on the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day.
World Tuberculosis Day is being observed under the theme “Invest to end TB, save lives” according to the World Health Organization and the Pan American Health Organization.
The CHR said its personnel will be downtown from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Apart from the free appointments for TB testing, the CHR will also be conducting other HIV testing, pressure and glucose checks, COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, height and weight checks, and nutrition advice.
The Ministry of Health and Wellness is conducting similar activities countrywide through the different health regions.
In Dangriga, the Southern Regional Hospital is conducting TB, HIV, Malaria and BMI testing, plus glucose and pressure tests from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
In Cayo, the San Ignacio Community Hospital has been busy since last Saturday with TB-related activities.
On Thursday, the San Ignacio Community Hospital is having a Health Fair from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Welcome Center in San Ignacio where they will be conducting TB, HIV testing, as well as glucose and pressure tests, and much more.
Then, on Friday, they’ll be present at the Spanish Lookout Expo doing TB and HIV testing and administering COVID-19 vaccines.
In Belmopan, the staff of Western Regional Hospital had a health fair last Friday, March 18.
