Budget Debate resumes; members reminded of standing orders

By Aaron Humes: The Bill for an Act to appropriate certain sums of money for the use of the Public Service of Belize for the financial year ending March 31, 2023, will be further debated today.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Valerie Woods has issued a reminder of the Standing Orders concerning the use of unparliamentary language, imputing improper motives, use of personal attacks, and respect for the Chair and Deputy Chair.

When the Budget Debate concludes, the House will also debate the Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill, 2022; Village Councils (Amendment) Bill, 2022; and motions on official charities and adjustment of rates of business tax on net interest income; and moving the Belize Advisory Council to advise the Governor-General to exercise the prerogative of mercy on the late Nora Parham.
