By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Belize Police Department is taking 50 Belize City children for a tour of the Belize Central Prison.
The tour is being organized by Commander of Eastern Division Assistant Commissioner of Police Howell Gillett, who explained that the children going on the trip are taken from “10 of the most challenging neighborhoods in the city.”
Gillett said that the participants on the field trip will hear talks from the inmates themselves as well as go on a tour of the facility.
“The purpose is for them to see first hand the end product of crime,” Gillett said.
The tour is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
