The 4th Annual Ernest ‘Jawmaine’ Meighan Classic is set for Sunday, March 27th, 2022.
The race takes off at 8:00 am from Leslie’s Imports in Belize City, heads on the George Price Highway to Mount Hope in Unitedville and returns to the starting spot.
The ‘Jawmaine’ Classic is a preparation race for the Annual Cross Country Cycling Classic which comes up on Holy Saturday, April 16.
Another cross country preparation race was the 100-mile 41st Westrac/M&M Engineering Belmopan Cycling Classic which was held on Sunday, March 13. That race was won by G-Flow’s Giovanni Lovell riding in solo.
Lovell recorded three hours and 50 minutes flat to take the race which started in front of Westrac on Forest Drive in Belmopan, travelled to Belize City, and then headed back to Belmopan.
Lovell’s teammate, Shawn Codd finished second 3:51:16, 1 minute and 16 seconds behind Lovell. Unattached Nashen Ysaguirre captured third and G-Flow’s Jyven Gonzalez finished fourth, both with the same time as Codd. Westrac Alliance placed the next two riders. Angel Tzib was fifth in 3:51:26 and Byron Pope sixth in 3:51:55.
Also coming up before the Holy Saturday Cross Country Cycling Classic are the Men’s Junior Cross Country Cycling Classic on Sunday April 3 and the Women’s Cross Country Cycling Classic on Sunday, April 10.
