Supreme Court to decide on bail revocation for Nelson Henry

Posted: Saturday, March 26, 2022. 3:33 pm CST.

By BBN Staff: On March 29, Supreme Court Justice Francis Cumberbatch, presiding in Belmopan, will virtually hear an application from Crown Counsel Jacqueline Willoughby for the court to revoke the bail granted to Nelson Henry, 34, on separate charges.

The Crown charges that Henry breached bail conditions offered by separate judges between January of 2021 and February of 2022 on charges of maim and being a member of a gang, for which he was set bail of ten thousand dollars and two sureties.

Henry, it is alleged, failed to sign in at the Queen Street Police Station on the days directed in the grant of bail.

Police caught up with Henry on March 18 in Quintana Roo, Mexico, and he was brought back to Belize the following day and given a letter concerning compliance with the bail grant conditions.

Henry claims he was not deported and will fight the case, but we understand his sureties have withdrawn their support.
